Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine is amazing, and since its amazing everyone else might be there on a rainy day as well.... but its worth it. From the firetruck to the ball room there are activities for kids of all ages. The Camera Obscura exhibit that is running right now is very cool and kids absolutely love it.
Bayside Bowl is one of the best spots in Portland with beautiful lanes, amazing food, and just a general groovy layout. Get in there early with the kids and get a lane for an hour and they won't want to leave. Adults will love Bayside as well with great drinks, great people, and hanging with the in crowd of Portland-ites.
Get Air Trampoline Park is bananaland and guaranteed to tucker your little one out no matter the age. Trampolines for big and small with a foam pit for getting BIG AIR!!! Highly recommend.
USM Planetarium has lots of kids programs including Dinosaurs at Dusk where kids can take in the massive presentation of the planetarium and learn about planets, stars, and dinosaurs.
